Green beans lots of em. Joy picked about 20 pounds this week-end can't wait to get some canned. We have always been sold on contender bush beans, tried a new variety this time,(top crop) very happy with the turn out. Very sweet and  very plentiful. We will see how they do in the spring.

Beef in Stout with Herb Dumplings  Ingredients:  Oil, as needed 2 - large yellow onions (thinly sliced) 8 - carrots (thinly sliced) 2 ribs - celery 1 cup - All Purpose flour 2 t - Beef Base 1 T - Greek seasoning 2 3/4 # - stew meat 3 cups - Guinness 4 cup - water 2 T - beef base ½ cup - balsamic (black) 2 t - firmly packed brown sugar  2 - whole bay leaves 1 t - dried thyme Preheat Oven to 325*F Directions: Heat pan with oil until it's hot but not smoking In small batches, add beef to the pan.

Best Goat meat Pasties 4 1/2 cup all purpose flour 1 tsp salt 1 1/2 cups lard 3/4 cup ice water filling: 1/2 pound Ground Goat meat crumbled 1 1/2 cups diced red potatoes 1/2 cup chopped carrot 1 small onion thinly sciled 1/4 cup thinly sliced celery 2 Tblspn snipped parsley 1/2 tspn pepper 1/2 tspn salt 1/4 tspn dried thyme leaves 2 Tblspn butter    In a large bowl ,combine flout 1 tspn salt. Cut in lard until mixture resembles corn meal. Sprinkle with ice water one tablespoon at a time
